Preheat oven to 350°.
In a large bowl stir together the flours, salt, and baking powder. In another bowl cream together margarine and sugar with a fork or electric mixer. Then mix in the egg-substance and vanilla, then the bananas. Mix well. (Cream margarine and sugar together first before adding the other wet stuff or it will screw the consistency up a LOT.) Stir flour mixture into banana mush. Add chocolate/carob chips and blend well.
Spread batter evenly into a greased and floured 9x13-inch rectangular pan. Bake 20-25 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean. (TRUST THE TOOTHPICK, NOT THE TIME.) Cool in pan for 15 minutes before removing and cutting into units.
